I've just started reading Nicholas Carr's new book,
The Big Switch. He claims information is the new electricity--a utility-based commodity that powers the economy. The sub-title,
Rewiring the world, from Edison to Google gives one a sense of its scope.
Sounds like an interesting book. To me, the idea that information a "utility" supports the position that, like water and electricity, all citizens should have access.
ReplyDeleteI think you are right about that, but then we all pay for water and electricity. Access is at risk even for water and electricty. How do we create and sustain access to the basics for all (citizen or not).
